A FAKE HOLY MOTHER IN THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE SPOILER

YAO TOWN

Bei Nuan was seriously injured in Yao Town in the original novel, so Lu Xingchi is extra careful this time. They send Xiaoji home successfully. They met another reborn person— Xie Yuanqing. He has a hilarious cat called Li Dahua that chose its own name and surname. It is Xie Yuanqing’s little princess. It only eats the things cooked by a high class chef with expensive ingredients. According to Xie Yuanqing, his little princess had not eaten ever since his chef died, and now that those expensive ingredients were hard to find, it had not eaten anything. It only plays in a three storey play house with electric mouse, and it can stay busy inside the playhouse for the whole day(Xie Yuanqing believes so).It also likes to pretend to be high-class in front of Xie Yuanqing. 

Xie Yuanqing had a conflict with their team in the original novel, so Lu Xingchi is extra careful. But Bei Nuan’s new target is the cat; she had to fulfill its three wishes. So she hangs around Xie Yuanqing often. The day before they planned to leave, Xie Yuanqing hypnotizes  Bei Nuan and make her stay with him back in the Yao Mountain. Lu Xingchi goes to retrieve her from him, when he sees a Bei Nuan with curly hair, a shawl, looking like a boss-lady, and telling him, 

“Lu Xingchi, I don’t want to go with you anymore. Didn’t you always want to leave me behind? I think this place is good. You can leave me here.” 

Lu Xingchi is jealous. He has a fight, well, unilateral beating actually, with Xie Yuanqing. Xie Yuanqing confesses that he is reborn, his ability is hypnotism and that he wanted to keep Bei Nuan with him because, in his previous life, he lived till the seventh year into the apocalypse and heard from an acquaintance that humans' last hope of survival was ruined all because of a woman named Bei Nuan. Lu Xingchi is worried but still doesn’t plan to leave her behind. He assures Xie Yuanqing and takes Bei Nuan away. He believes Bei Nuan is different in this life, and he will watch her closely. Back at Xiaoji’s home where they were living, he washes Bei Nuan’s hair thinking the curls were done to her by Xie Yuanqing, when in fact,  it was done by Xiaoji’s mother. He also threw away the shawl Xiaoji’s mother gifted her thinking it was from Xie Yuanching. He feels embarrassed.

As it turns out, the Li Dahua whose wishes Bei Nuan had to fulfill was not the cat, but Xiaoji’s mother. The wishes were pretty easy. Her last wish of the three being that Bei Nuan and team would be safe. Bei Nuan gets teary eyed.

The team bids farewell, and continues on their journey. And oh, before leaving, Bei Nuan also exposes Xie Yuanqing’s pretentious cat.

“Xie Yuanqing, I forgot to tell you. Your little princess doesn’t have to eat veal foie gras with caviar or play in the three-storey playhouse. She especially likes to eat dried sweet potatoes soaked in hot water. Just tease her with dog’s tail grass, and she will be very happy!”

COUNTRY N

Bei Nuan finds a boat. They also meet some people by the Salt River, who lure people to an island in the name of a safe place, job and food. But in reality, they are abducting people to work as a laborer. Once people get in there, they can’t escape. Lu Xingchi plans to follow them; the island was the next check-point. He tells his teammates his reason for following them— he saw the same logo on Huo Ren’s car and in Prison 9, on the car of these people that wanted to take them as laborers, and so he wanted to investigate the island. They board the speed boat to the island and Bei Nuan ends up stealing the speedboat too. The island hands everyone a metal plate with A,B,C,D,E, and F, which were hand- made and chiseled by a man named Old Hu. He is another reborn person. They were required to hang it around their neck like a dog tag. Bei Nuan gets an F. She doesn’t complain though, however, Du Ruo is upset that he got B while Jiang Fei and Lu Xingchi got A. Tang Tang consoles him with his C, but Du Ruo pesters Old Hu for A and ended up getting one. They soon find out what those dog-tags means. A is the strongest and F is the weakest and dies faster. They meet a girl selling sparrow BBQ, Xiao Shao, a B tag holder. They stay in the island and Bei Nuan gets caught up in some trouble with the Island Boss Qiu Zhengxun, who was conspiring to kill his younger half brother, Qiu Ji. In the original story, Qiu Ji dies, but this time, he survived because of Bei Nuan. It was accidental, really. Bei Nuan had wanted to go to a room where they kept zombies to try to feed the zombies beef jerky. In the room, she locks up a cage that was not properly locked, which was Qiu Zhengxun’s trap for Qiu Ji. It was a task from the system to show compassion to someone. She chose Du Ruo, to whom, compassion meant caring for the zombies welfare. He still hasn’t given up on becoming the zombie king someday. 

Lu Xingchi ends up killing Qiu Zhengxun without others knowing. They also learn from Xiao Shao who broke her leg while trying to catch sparrows, that she was originally an E, but her brother handed his own B card to her. And her brother died. They finally found out the logo they were looking for behind the iron tag of Xiao Shao. They go to Old Hu, interrogates him and he tells them than he found those iron boxes in the warehouse. The logo belonged to a company called LBD, who had previously sent disaster relieve goods when the island was hit with flood before the apocalypse. Lu Xingchi interrogates Old Hu alone asking what the tags meant. Old Hu’s ability is to see people’s lives. People with greener life signs gets an A, and so on. Bei Nuan was pure red so she got an F. Maybe it’s because Bei Nuan could be transmigrated back to be crushed by the truck at any time if she doesn’t complete her tasks. They also meet Brother Hua, the man with flowery tattoo, again. They all help each-other out. Brother Hua says if he meets them in the safe zone again, he would like to drink Bei Nuan and Lu Xingchi’s wedding wine.

Bei Nuan and team also leaves soon.

ANCIENT TRIBE

They rest in a bungalow for a night, where they meets a little thief- a little golden monkey. The monkey steals cassava chips from them, which they had used as chips to replicates the ones from the casino back in the Island. Lu Xingchi laments that Bei Nuan got addicted to the casino after only playing once. They named the monkey Great Sage, actually Bei Nuan named it. they parted with the monkey when they met people from an ancient tribe.

Bei Nuan does fun little tasks that makes her collect items like a witch and obtains some abilities for a limited period of time. One of them being able to hear Lu Xingchi’s thought. Which ruins Lu Xingchi’s cool and calm image. He is just like a teenage boy around Bei Nuan in his heart. “She is soft” “should I kiss her” “so cute”  “I want to take this opportunity to touch her hair, it should be okay right”, etc.

They met people from ancient tribe, who hated fire and worshipped water God. They shows them a picture of a man, asking if they saw him. Du Ruo recognizes the man in the picture as the mysterious man that gave him the virus inhibitor. So they want to follow them to this tribe to see what’s going on. There is a female Saint in the tribe, called Saint Yawen, who is arrogant and has a satellite phone. She is in cahoots with Huo Ren.

Saint Yawen takes a fancy to Lu Xingchi and wants him as her attendant, which of course doesn’t go her way. Bei Nuan gains a fire ability that sets things on fire if she touches her head while looking at them. So, the tribe hating fire, locks Bei Nuan up on Saint Yawen’s order. The saint was jealous because the chief of the tribe, Chief Gahan, who had always been aloof, had paid special attention to Bei Nuan during the day time. 

Bei Nuan, under lockup, reunites with the golden little monkey. The monkey bring her an ancient tapestry, and when people came near them, the golden monkey gets frightened and sits up Bei Nuan’s head. Bei Nuan tries to pull the money from her head and accidentally touches her head, lighting up the nearby trees on fire. This picture was the exact same as in the prophecy of the tribe, and the person was to be the saint that would save the tribe. Bei Nuan ends up becoming a saint in the tribe, and names herslef Joan of arc.

Saint Yawen is a fake saint, she is overthrown by Bei Nuan. Huo Ren visists, bringing along Zhenzhen who now looked skinny and unwell. Another of Bei Nuan’s ability that she obtained from completing little tasks was to make people tell the truth on a touch of her finger. In order to make saint Yawen tell the truth, Bei Nuan uses it on her. Saint Yawen gets killed by Huo Ren before she could say anything related to LBD. Bei Nuan had heavy Saint makeup on, so Huo Ren didn’t recognize her. He also touches her finger and laves a kiss on the back of her palm. Bei Nuan is shocked, because, her ability didn’t work on Huo Ren. Huo Ren’s ability is that other people’s ability does not work on him and he is immune to all attacks.

Chief Gahan falls out with Huo Ren when he kills Saint Yawen and also showed signs to kill others. Huo Ren leaves, leaving behind a bomb to exterminate the whole tribe. The scary thing is, even if the tribe had not fallen out with him, he was planning to exterminate them. Bei Nuan takes the bomb into space in the last few seconds and ended up saving the tribe true to the prophecy.

Chief Gahan confesses to Bei Nuan under a touch from Bei Nuan’s finger. He does not regret it though. He also gives her a parting gift.

A BASE

Bei Nuan and team reaches a base, they planned to stay there for a few days. To Bei Nuan’s surprise, the place they were given for accommodation was the exact replica of Bei Nuan’s childhood home in her original world when her dad was still alive. There they find about Bei Nuan’s heart surgery. They also finds out about her adoption. Till date, Bei Nuan was blaming her dad for saving someone unworthy without keeping her in mind. But when she finds out that she was adopted from the diary her father left behind for her, she understands it all. That her father was such a kind person, and he, who had adopted her despite her heart problem, would also be kind to anyone.

Lu Xingchi has an inkling that Bei Nuan is from a different world because the history book he read from Bei Nuan’s room doesn’t match their world’s history.

Bei Nuan celebrates her birthday, with only Lu Xingchi knowing it. He find a book from her world about history of civilization, where he find out, from the little remarks she left, her love for Cleopatra’s dress and makes her a Cleopatra dress that she had always wanted, with gold.

The house is very mysterious, she doesn’t understand how it appeared there, but when she leaves, she empties the house. Lu Xingchi has already figured it out that she comes from a different world because of the book of history of civilization as they did not have a Cleopatra in history in Lu Xingchi’s world. He also figures out that her occasional weird behavior was her having to do some system tasks. Since then, he helps her complete tasks silently. 

While in the base, they join teams going out to collect supplies and other tasks. Lu Xingchi and Bei Nuan was invited by a man called captain Zheng on a mission to retrieve some things for a rich man, surnamed Yin, from his villa. Their team had another two people called Da Hei/ Big black, and a skinny legend called Little Skinny. They retrieve another satellite phone from the Tea mogul’s study. Huo Ren and LBD are everywhere really.

While on the task, they met the mysterious man that gave Du Ruo the inhibitor. Bei Nuan gains another ability that can command people into obeying her words. They find out the mysterious man’s name. He was called Song Ce. A scientist that had previously worked for LBD, and is now on the run from them. He had been researching on the zombie virus that came from the meteorite even before the apocalypse. So he already had an antidote. LBD does not want him to hand over the antidote to mankind as they wanted to use it to make a comeback in the business world. Like dude, it’s the apocalypse and LBD is unaffected enough to think about making profit off human sufferings.

When Bei Nuan’s 5minutes of spell was over, Song Ce runs off using his ability. Yes. Song Ce is also reborn. His ability is to save himself by making others see him as their dearest person. Bei Nuan saw her dad, Lu Xingchi saw Bei Nuan. Song Ce escapes but he leaves behind an inhibitor for Du Ruo, for his hotpot. Du Ruo's time extends. In his previous life, Song Ce had handed those inbitor, vaccines, and other useful information to LBD, but contrary to his expectation, LBD did not mass produce it, or hand it over to the alliance, and they even silenced him. So after reborn, he started escaping, which explains why those inhibitor and vaccine was not mentioned in the original story line.

Bei Nuan and the others complete the task, for which the reward was a month’s worth of meal ticket or a ticket to Taipingmen for a night. Taipingmen is a place where the rich eats and drinks, or simply a casino where they used Zombies for entertainment. All the zombies there are good looking and all of them had muzzles in their mouth so that they can’t bite others. Back at the base, Like Lu Xingchi, Bei Nuan and Da Hei, Captain Zheng also chose the ticket to Taipingmen as a reward, and skinny monkey chose the meal ticket. He tries to desperately warn and stops them from going to Taipingmen. No one listens to him. Turns out, Skinny monkey was also reborn. His ability was talking behind people’s back. Useless.

Before going to Taipingmen, Bei Nuan meets a female zombie with a muzzle in its mouth. She seemed to be asking for help from Bei Nuan. This female zombie is captain Zheng’s sister, who he was going to rescue that night. Initially, he was going to avenge his sister, cause he thought he would not be successful.  Bei Nuan and Lu Xingchi spots Huo Ren in Taipingmen. They also help Captain Zheng, to rescue his zombie sister and escape from the base. But they encounters Huo Ren in Taipingmen. As it turn out, Huo Ren had recognized her when she was a saint in the ancient tribe. Lu Xingchi attacks Huo Ren knowing full well that it won’t succeed. But Bei Nuan manages to chop his finger off with the unassuming Minghong sword of Du Ruo’s. Huo Ren, shocked, escapes.

In Lu Xingchi’s previous life, captain Zheng and his sister becomes a powerful zombie. But this time, captain Zheng is still alive, and his sister still has hope.

A SHIP

After leaving the base they set off to sea. However, before that, Bei Nuan had a task to complete. So she sets up an artificial white sand beach with salt and took out a reclining chair to enjoy sunset. And this group of abnormal people that doesn’t have a serious attitude in facing the apocalypse, all follows Bei Nuan’s example and set up their own artificial white beach with salt.

Four people, four chairs, reclining comfortably, facing the sea, enjoying the magnificent view of the sea at sunset. The only normal person in the group, Lu Xingchi, would look like an idiot if he doesn’t follow the fools, so he can only follow along. 

After sunset, they see a ship—Vali. The ship was a newly developed energy power system, which in theory, can last for 10 to 20 years without docking, and it was supposed to be on its first voyage when the zombie virus broke out.

This time, the ship docked because they ran out of supplies. They see a truck rushing towards the ship, besieged by zombies. Lu Xingchi decides to save those people like he did in his previous life. He was trying to sell a favour so that they could get on the ship. In the group of people, was the captain of the ship, Nie Bei’an. 

The owner of the ship, Sheng Yi, was also on board. He is also a reborn person. In his previous life, he was blind and disabled on a wheelchair. When he was reborn, he chose a healthy body over supernatural ability. So in this life not only can he see, he can also walk and see normally like any other normal person. In the previous life, he saved a bunch of ingrates from a sinking boat, and was also betrayed, which killed him and the passengers in the ship. So in this life, he takes revenge. Lu Xingchi also assists.

Sheng Yi has an assistant, Secretary Li. But he is not the one who betrayed him in his previous life. The one who betrayed him was the Chief mate Zhai who was jealous and angry that Sheng Yi made Nie Bei’an the captain, who was not only younger than him, but also joined later than him.

There is also another reborn in the ship. A little boy named Yuanyuan. Whose ability is to see invisible things. Bei Nuan's limited time ability this time was Invisibility. She also plays tricks on the people in the ship and of course on her team. One time, while invisible, Bei Nuan helped Tangtang find his phone which was under Du Ruo’s bed. But Du Ruo’s instinct is sharp. He feels that someone is under the bed also guesses that it’s Bei Nuan. He can always connect mischief to Bei Nuan. I’m telling you Bei Nuan and Du Ruo are best friends. 

Tangtang and Du Ruo gets suspicious so Lu Xingchi comes out of the bathroom naked(intentionally) to flash Bei Nuan and of course to help her out of her predicament as Du Ruo and Tangtang were prepared to fight Bei-kind hearted ghost-Nuan. Lol. After which Bei Nuan ignores Lu Xingchi who had become “scary” to Bei Nuan. Just when Bei Nuan successfully escapes from the men’s room, she hear the conversation behind her–

Du Ruo: Lu Xingchi, help me look under the bed. I think there was someone under the bed just now.

Lu Xingchi: Is there someone? Who is it?

Du Ruo: Although it sounds a bit strange, I think it should be Bei Nuan. I don’t know what she is playing at. She probably wants to scare me.

Bei Nuan was speechless. Later she learns from Lu Xingchi that, although she was invisible, she was very fragrant from the body products that she uses, so it was very easy for them to guess it was her.

Just read the whole book okay? There are many moments that touch the heart. Although the contents is mostly comedy and the novel describes the dark side of mankind in a light way, I still think it is deep. Anyways, I have no better words to describe it as my vocabulary is lacking. Some might disagree and say it’s not that deep, but for me, it is beautifully written. This book has it all. Of course it’s just my opinion. However, I would still like it for everyone to read it full.

 Bei Nuan and group disembark. And the first thing Du Ruo has to say while sighing is– “I haven’t seen my people for several days, and I really miss them.” He really is serious about his aspiration of becoming a Zombie King.

At this point, Bei Nuan suspects that Lu Xingchi is a reborn. She inquires but Lu Xingchi doesn’t give a definite answer. She is 99.999% sure that he is reborn because he knows various things, and also two of the reborn she met on the ship confessed of their rebirth and the voice(presumably Bei Nuan’s system little 3 or other system) that asked them to draw a rebirth novice ability pack. Bei Nuan suspects that he also has tasks like her and he cannot confess of his rebirth. Likewise, she also cannot tell anyone of her task and her transmigration.
