A FAKE HOLY MOTHER IN THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE SPOILER

Lu Xingchi and his unwavering idea to leave Bei Nuan behind.

That’s right. He had not forgotten this plan. He wants to leave Bei Nuan behind in Jiangcheng, their next destination. He say,

“Bei Nuan, we’ll be passing Jiangcheng tomorrow. I’ll find you a relatively safe spot. You have a pocket space, the resources inside are enough for you to survive for a long time.” 

We learn Bei Nuan’s background here. Not the novels Bei Nuan, but our transmigrator female lead Bei Nuan. Although she was trying to act pitiful at first, she finally revealed the truth. She says she grew up in an orphanage- which is not true. But we will find out later that she was adopted from the orphanage, she just didn’t know. Her mom died of sickness when she was little, and her dad soon passed away when she was in middle school. He tried to save a colleague from her boyfriend, but got stabbed and died. The colleague who he saved, afraid that she would have to take responsibility and pay money for Bei Nuan’s expenses, they spread the rumors that her dad had an ambiguous relationship with the colleague he saved and wanted to find a stepmother for Bei Nuan. The dad died in vain, really. So Bei Nuan is really cold. She only cares about herself. Poor Bei Nuan, cause even after sharing such an emotional story, Lu Xingchi was still not moved(or so he shows), he still wanted to find a safe place to leave her behind, and he did. He knew Bei Nuan was different from his previous life, but she would occasionally do the things Bei Nuan did in his previous life(because Bei Nuan had to do it due to system task). So he felt he couldn’t take her along.

Lu Xingchi is also showings signs of softening up for Bei Nuan and also is jealous on occasions when she takes care of Jiang Fei.

At Jiangcheng, because Du Ruo wanted to cook Hainanese Chicken for Bei Nuan, they stopped. Lu Xingchi also found an inconspicuous two story building with a high courtyard wall. He plans to leave Bei Nuan here. He starts reinforcing the doors and windows with steel bars, the courtyard walls with steel plate. The house has everything covered, it had a well and hand pump for water, flush toilet. He made every arrangement. He is also planning to collect more supplies for her that would last her a few years. Bei Nuan thinks that Lu Xingchi thought she probably wouldn’t survive past a few years by herself, but she is wrong. Lu Xingchi plans to come back for her after a few years. But all his plans went down the flush toilet, because his teammates protested. Jiang Fei wants to stay back, seeing which, Du Ruo said he would too. Lu Xingchi was unsuccessful, but he didn’t give up. He wanted to find another place to leave her behind.

Meeting another reborn person.

The group goes to a supermarket, another check-point from the original story and Lu Xingchi’s previous life. The supermarket had three person in charge- Teacher Xue, Doctor Su, and Captain Xing. They meet a reborn person there who had a conflict with Lu Xingchi and was thrown into a zombie pile— Zhou Cang. He too has an ability- he can make others mute for some time. It’s pretty useless to be honest, and Bei Nuan agrees too. Zhou Cang goes to the same fate of being thrown into a zombie pile by Lu Xingchi after he tried to take revenge on them, Lu Xingchi in particular. Captain Xing dies in Zhou Cang’s hands.

The survivors in this supermarket would be the first to make a safe base in the safe zone. The base was located in a hidden underground tunnel that was far below the surface area and extended in all directions. This had nothing to do with Lu Xingchi’s team in the original novel; they left after dealing with Zhou Cang and his team of gangsters. But this time Lu Xingchi plans to leave Bei Nuan with them. 

Lu Xingchi says, “I’ll finish my business as quickly as possible. If I’m still alive after that, I’ll come find you.” 

Bei Nuan and Lu XIngchi goes to collect supplies for the supermarket people, Bei Nuan uses beauty trap on him again, she hugs him tightly (the hug was originally an accident after a fight with zombie) and says, “I want to follow you.” 

Lu Xingchi is really moved okay, but he thinks and knows that if he gives in, she would change her face in the next instant. Lu Xingchi almost kissed her but Bei Nuan pushed him away.

Later, they really share an accidental kiss while dealing with Zhou Cang. Although accidental, Lu Xingchi still leaned forward to deepen the kiss. Haha. Opportunist.  After that, he entrust Bei Nuan to Dr. Su, the would-be underground base leader, to take care of Bei Nuan, who he introduces as his girlfriend. Bei Nuan was shocked. Girlfriend? Dude, it was literally just one accidental kiss and he is already claiming her. Haha. I love it. But it doesn’t help that he still wants to leave her behind. This time Du Ruo and Jiang Fei didn’t say they wanted to stay behind. Don’t think they abandoned her, they said so because they were already planning to take her along secretly in a sleeping bag. The hurdles I tell you. And Lu Xingchi knew about it all along, and it was all because of the bad acting skills of Du Ruo, Jiang Fei and Dr.Su. Lu Xingchi acted along for a while but in the end, knowing Bei Nuan was probably suffocating in the sleeping bag, he exposes her.

Lu XIngchi still didn’t give up, he says, “You’re right. Jiangcheng isn’t ideal. We’ll see what better place there is ahead. I’ll leave you there.”

Rescuing another teammate.

They are now headed to Shuicheng, to a university to rescue Jiang Fei’s cellmate’s son. Jiang Fei’s condition to follow Lu Xingchi was that he would help find his cellmate’s son, which Lu Xingchi was already planning to do so. The teammate is called Tang Tang. They had to cross a river to get to Shuicheng. There, Bei Nuan is left in the car while the three men went to relieve themselves. Bei Nuan spots a boat, which they really needed and stepped out of the jeep. She talks with the boat boss, then another group of men arrives. These men kills at the slightest disagreement. They kills the boat owner, and abducts Bei Nuan as a pilot for the boat, as well as a concubine for their boss— Huo Ren. This person is also a person with special ability. Like Bei Nuan, he comes from another world. He is cruel and does not have a person he cares for. There is a girl called ZhenZhen with him, who is crazy about him, thinks he is pitiful and all shit. She is a bad case of  “I can heal him” bs. She is on a mission to save Huo Ren.

Bei Nuan, the baby, leaves behind clues for the worried mother Lu Xingchi. She is taken to a place called Prison 9. Lu Xingchi sees her being abducted but he didn’t reveal himself. He follows behind to save her. In the place called Prison 9, Lu Xingchi finds that the person the restaurant(where Jiang Fei was save by them) owner said that was talking about the virus inhibitor, is this Huo Ren. So they decided to stay for a few more days to find clues. This place was not mentioned in the original novel, nor did Lu XIngchi come across it in his previous life.

Huo Ren is seen talking to someone with a satellite phone. He is looking for a mysterious person with a virus inhibitor. He also takes an interest in Bei Nuan, he thinks they are the same, they don’t care about others. He invites Bei Nuan to watch a show in this world where he thinks people like them can rule. Bei Nuan declines. The show Huo Ren wanted to show Bei Nuan was him fishing for zombies. He had hung a couple as baits from the prison wall.

Bei Nuan is disturbed that Huo Ren might be right. And that she had no compassion for others. Lu Xingchi then tells her that she is not like Huo Ren. He also reveals why he always takes a shower even in the apocalypse—  because staying clean would remind him that he is still human, and he needs to have a bottom line.

Later, Huo Ren leaves, Bei Nuan was rescued by Lu Xingchi. They saves the couple-baits from the wall. Bad news is that, the girlfriend from the couple scratches Du Ruo. At first they thought it was nothing, but in the middle of the night, the couple mutated. They still had hopes that it was the boyfriend that was bitten by zombie and passed the virus to his girlfriend, but the problem was the girlfriend. Du Ruo is at risk of mutating.

Du Ruo meets a savior.

Yes, Du Ruo would not die okay. Get that thought out of your head. He is Bei Nuan’s best friend okay, well kind of. So they all go ahead on the road. Jiang Fei has taken over the role of the cook from Bei Nuan and he suddenly asks what Du Ruo wanted to eat. At Du Ruo’s suggestion, they also go to dig bamboo shoot in the bamboo grove. It’s like they are not in the middle of an apocalypse at all haha. Du Ruo also has a new aspiration. He thinks he has the potential to become a zombie king.

Jiang Fei is also a little different in this life, he’s still good to Bei Nuan like in the novel, and still tries to win Bei Nuan’s favour by cooking her delicious food. When Lu Xingchi made a metal rose for her, he made her a beef rose. Jiang Fei would also give a provocative smile innocently to Lu Xingchi. In Lu Xingchi’s words- he was just like a green-tea bitch(ambitious women who present themselves as ignorant, pure, and innocent). 

Du Ruo takes time in mutating. They finally reached Shuicheng university, saves Tang Tang, and there, Du Ruo finally mutates. He runs away on his own at night after eating delicious food. His mutation is different, he still has not mutated completely, has a conscience and zombies ignores him. He meets a mysterious man at the university lab, they had a chat. Du Ruo tells him that he still wants to have hotpot with his friends. The mysterious man then injects him with a virus inhibitor. It helped him to prevent mutation. Now Du Ruo can walk freely amongst zombies. He returns to the team safely. He tells them about the mysterious man, and now, the team has an additional mission—to find the mysterious man and ask for another inhibitor. This mysterious man is the same man that Huo Ren is looking for.

Lu Xingchi and Bei Nuan also has a moment in Shuicheng, where Lu Xingchi demands a payment for helping Bei Nuan. He kissed her, but Bei Nuan was upset, says that was not how she imagined her first kiss to be. And Lu Xingchi asks her what it was like, she replies- in the library, under the sunlight, no tongue! Lu Xingchi fulfills it. It was pretty cute. Lu Xingchi also has a dream kiss of his own, which he made up on the spot- a flavoured kiss okay. Also, Lu Xingchi really dotes on Bei Nuan.

The journey to the safe area.

The team is now complete. All they have to do is check-in to some place from the original novel. They proceed on their journey and they meet a little boy over 10 years old called Fang Chen. He had a sick elder brother over 16-17 years old at home called Fang Ye. Bei Nuan has tasks from the system. She had to help three people fulfill three wishes. Fang Chen was in the list. So she helps him. First wish was to help his zombie grandma, who was in the courtyard downstairs, to wear shoes; second wish was to find his parents. Bei Nuan and Lu Xingchi found Fang Chen’s father but the mother had no traces left. Along with Fang Chen’s father, they rescue a young man called Xiaoji. Fang Chen and his family refuses to leave with them to a safe place, they wanted to wait for their mother at home. It’s a bit sad…

Anyways, Lu Xingchi and Bei Nuan helped them collect supplies. Fang Chen’s last wish is that they help and send the young man Xiaoji home. At this point, Lu Xingchi agrees to anything Bei Nuan wants, so they agreed. Also, the place that they had to go to send Xiaoji home, Yao Town, is also the next check-in place for Lu Xingchi.

Bei Nuan, elated that Lu Xingchi agreed, asks, “How can you be so good?” 

Lu Xingchi is a funny man too alright, cause he replies, 

“Because I want to use my kindness to you to reflect how indifferent you are to me.”

Leaving Bei Nuan speechless.
